Parish Nursing

Parish Nursing (Faith Community Nursing) is a speciality practice within the nursing profession and has at its core the intentional care of the spirit. The practice is governed by the Nurse Practice Act of each state, in conjunction with state board of nursing policies and practices. The application of the professional skills and responsibilities are guided by the American Nurses Association's standards for the practice, and are published in Faith Community Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice. Parish Nursing promotes wholeness within the membership of the faith community and has its foundation within the Scriptures.

Congregational Health

How does being healthy add to the Kingdom of God? Through Health Ministry, congregations can be transformed into dynamic change agents demonstrating God's love in both the congregation and the community at large. Scripture records the messages that belief and faith bring healing and wholeness. Health ministry and parish nursing are tools which bring the elements of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health into focus, making congregational activities meaningful and relevant for today's congregations. Following the example of Christ's ministry of healing, and understanding the principles of whole person health, the congregation can develop a vibrant ministry for health and wholeness. In partnership with community healthcare entities, congregations can apply wholistic health promotion and disease prevention across the age span of the congregation, and reach out to care for those in need.
